In recent years, mental wellness has become an important factor for members of Worcester Polytechnic Institute. With efforts to support students’ mental health and well-being, WPI planned to launch a Center for Well Being in early 2022 school year. Working with ART Engineering and Lamoureux Pagano Associates/Architects, this project involves the design of electrical, fire alarm, HVAC, security systems and the lighting control system for the new Center for Well Being. The design process starts with gaining understanding of existing conditions, gaining knowledge of the National Electrical Codes and the National Fire Alarm and Signaling Codes, Coordinating design requests with Owner/Architect, System Design and Gaining design approval. The design process was completed using Autodesk Revit MEP 2021, a program that provides great tools which allow the design of complex mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems. The deliverables of this project include a set of completed system design drawings and 3D Autodesk Revit models. The project’s design was proctored and approved by a licensed Professional Electrical Engineer.
