The purpose of this Major Qualifying Project is to enable Rainbow, an XQuery processor developed at WPI, to process arbitrarily large volumes of XML data. Working from background research, small-scale experimentation, as well as development of solution prototypes, the capabilities and limitations of Rainbow were assessed. The analysis of experimental data revealed that Rainbow could benefit more from the direct use of relational technologies.
