Optical encoder technology development

Public

The purpose of this project was to design and implement an absolute optical encoder prototype that used novel imaging methods to produce at least 300 position updates per second with extraordinary accuracy. This involved the design and development of a high speed DSP system to control a CCD interface, of an address decoder to interface between the analog CCD camera and the DSP, of the image processing algorithms, and of an interface to output absolute position to the user.
