Computational Methods in the High School Physics Classroom

Programming is an increasingly important skill in both physics research and physics-related industries. However, computational methods are often separated from physics curriculums at the university level, and are scarcely learned at all at the high school level. My project was to develop programming lesson plans that could be incorporated into high school physics curricula in accordance with the Massachusetts DESE standards. Through extensive research into both teaching philosophies and specific pedagogical tools, as well as extensive field testing in collaboration with experienced teachers, these lessons and their accompanying materials provide a solution for integrating physics and computer science at the high school level.
