open in viewerIn recent years, the National Park Service has been looking for more ways to incorporate technology into the preservation, research, and enjoyment of nature. Trail View serves as a way to close the gap between humans and nature by offering an interactive virtual tour of Acadia National Park’s hiking trails. Similar to the concept of Google Street View, Trail View is an interconnected series of panoramic photos. It is further expanded into an educational tool by displaying information about natural phenomena alongside the trail. Its intended use is to increase interest in Acadia, educate people on environmental and conservation issues, and create a database of relevant trail information.
