Deformable vascular tissue model

Public

The goal of this project was to design and construct a deformable vascular tissue model, such as can be used in place of a human finger in a pulse oximeter, to test conditions otherwise physically and ethically restricted. This was achieved with a silicone and latex tissue analog surrounding a microsphere matrix mimicking a capillary bed and a silicone inner core mimicking the viscera. Preliminary pulse oximeter data from the constructed model correlated well with actual saturation levels with a r^2=0.98.
