As the Maker IQP team, we had two main goals: Create engaging project based classes to teach STEM concepts, and then analyze the effectiveness of those courses on members of the community. We successfully designed three courses: Designing a 3D Printed Carabiner, Making a 2D Game, and Designing a CNC Machine. We then successfully deployed these courses online, free and available to anyone. With the courses online, we surveyed Worcester Polytechnic Institute students before and after they took the course to determine if distributed project based learning in this form was successful in improving their overall knowledge. We ran our testing window in B-Term 2021 and found that the majority of students reported a positive improvement in their knowledge of the subject after taking a course. A majority also reported that they enjoyed the course and found them fun to complete.
