Current Challenges in Biodiversity and Conservation, Volume 1 is the third book of a series of open educational resources (OER) created by undergraduate students at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, a private research university in Worcester, Massachusetts (USA). The series is devoted to examining the causes and consequences of global biodiversity loss and species extinction. The following chapters combine these perspectives and highlight key insights of current students in their quest to assess and address issues at the intersections of species extinctions, environmental conservation, and sustainable development. Through different perspectives, these chapters examine the role and impacts of human activities, environmental changes, and conservation efforts across the globe.
